Description

Did you know that one in five Australian children start school behind in language and communication?

Let’s Read is a national early literacy initiative promoting reading with children from birth to five years. Let’s Read was developed by the Centre for Community Child Health at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute and The Royal Children’s Hospital. The Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The Smith Family (TSF) have partnered to implement Let’s Read with communities across Australia.

Enrol in the Let’s Read eLearning Course, a 2013 eLearning Award finalist, and help the children you work with to take full advantage of social and learning opportunities for life.

Objectives

This Let’s Read online professional development will support you and your team to:

•    foster emergent literacy with children—from babies to pre-school age
•    create environments and experiences that support language and literacy growth
•    encourage families to share books, songs and nursery rhymes with their children
•    address features of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standard

“Excellent program—I will ask our leaders to enrol so that we can facilitate literacy programs with families across all our early childhood services.”
